Après-ski ( ah-prey-skee, ap-rey- ) French meaning after ski. Usually referring to social activities after skiing, such as sharing the days adventures over dinner and drinks.
My passion for skiing started at an early age back in the sixties. Even though the equipment was terrible (leather lace up boots, bear trap bindings etc.) In my late teens my friends and I would plan trips to the ski areas of Maine, NH and Vermont.
We would always start with a trip to Killington VT. for Thanksgiving weekend. Then as many other days we could get in for the season.
I was diagnosed with Lupus when I turned 30, my joints began to deteriorate especially my knees and it became too painful to ski.
I took a second job at the local ski area I grew up skiing at, which eventually turned into a full time 16 plus year career. Even though I wasn't skiing it was great to be back in the environment I enjoyed growing up.
Due to some life altering illnesses and my slow deterioration, I decided to retire and start this endeavor while I still could move.
I thought Après Ski Chair was a good name as the equipment was getting a "after ski" life again.
I'm not looking to be a high volume shop that turns out average "picnic table" style Adirondack ski chairs. I build high quality limited production furniture that is functional and beautiful inside or out of your home.
Reach out to me personally with any questions about my products and how I can make your next family heirloom.
